After my last post things got a little surreal. I passed out candy to the kids who came to the office with their parents. Most kids instantly knew who I was supposed to be. One little girl (under 2) had no idea, but she just couldn't take her eyes off of me. I even got a surprise hug from one girl despite it being an open-faced suit. On the other paw, it IS an incredibly snuggly suit. Things got a little weird as I paraded around with the kids for a bit. Two co-workers demanded hugs. Okaaaaaay. One then started feeding me chocolate. Had this been a furry con, it might have been different. It was just strange to have the people I work with go all fur-crazy (not that it's a bad thing!) I also found out who was up on pop culture and who wasn't. Many people thought I was one of the monsters from "Where the Wild Things Are."
After I got home it was time to pass out candy to the kiddies. I decided to wear Daisy Duck. I got quite a few laughs from kids and their parents.
We were going to put a scary movie on, but ended up watching a weird documentary called, "Room 237." It involved interviews with numerous film nuts who tried to find deep, hidden meanings in "The Shining." For instance the movie is about the genocide of the American Indian because Kubrick put a can of Calumet baking powder (featuring an Indian) prominently in a shot of the pantry. One person watched the movie forwards and backwards simultaneously and saw many spooky things. Yeahhhhhh. It's kinda like watching "The Wizard of Oz" while listening to "Dark Side of the Moon." It works when you want it to work (and probably more so if you're stoned.)
