Mesa Update

I noticed in my LJ archive that it was one year ago yesterday that I wrote about surveyors up on the mesa marking off center lines for roads and utilities. They certainly have done a lot of work over the past 365 days. I took some pics at the far southwest corner of the development, and it looks nothing like it does today. Last week they actually started to pave one of the new roads. I have no idea what the hell they are thinking because they paved about 1 block of street completely and half a street for another couple of blocks. Then they just stopped.

Most of the "wet" utilities have been laid i.e. storm, water, and sewer. Several blocks on the west end have had the "dry" utilities installed i.e. electricity, phone, and cable. Curbs have been laid for most of the western half of the development. The stuff above Fur Central has not changed much over the past few weeks.

As I commented several months ago, it appears that the housing market has rebounded with a vengeance in the area. New homes are popping up right and left. They have also re-designed a major intersection up there for about the 4th time in as many years. Part of that may be due to the construction of a large flood-control dam to control flows from a major arroyo that is now largely in an urban/suburban watershed. Man. It seems like such a short time ago that I was up there alone with my thoughts. No roads. No houses. Oh well. It was an enjoyable 14 years.
