We had an absolutely gorgeous Spring day yesterday, so I decided to spend as much time outdoors as possible. I wanted to tackle the garden area. Mesa had dug a nice hole in it and the cats decided to use it as a litter box (Ewww.) I leveled everything out and got the lay of the drip irrigation tubing. I'm still going to need to get some mulch because some of the soil is really bad. When the landscaping was done last year they mixed up my pretty decent soil with a bunch of sand and rocks. I wonder how cat poop is as a fertilizer? (once again...ewww) I was happy to see that some of the perennials that my sister had planted last July are getting ready to bloom. Yay! Color! I also became a redneck and got myself a leaf blower. I normally hate them because my redneck neighbor loves to play with his about once a week, it seems. I decided to get one because it's horrible trying to rake leaves and plant debris from gravel. What I liked about this model is that you can blow all of the leaves into a pile, switch the nozzle around which turns it into a vacuum, and suck up the leaves into a bag. Imagine! A tool that both blows and sucks! I also spent some time just chillin' in the sun, sippin' whiskey, and reading my first book of the season. I chose Hunter S Thompson's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." It's not bad. I was expecting more drugged-out weirdness. Don't get me wrong. There is PLENTY of drug use in the book, but the freak outs aren't as bad as I had imagined. My favorite scene in the movie (which was pretty accurate) is when he starts imagining everyone as lizards. Scaly goodness!
