I was in a bit of a foul mood after work yesterday. I had stopped at Lowes to pick up some new flower pots since some of my plants have outgrown their present pots and one newly purchased pot had already broken either due to wind, cat, or contractor working on the yard. They didn't have exactly what I wanted, but I found a couple that would do the job. I was just pissed because it was impossible to find someone to help me find what I was looking for. *shrugs* So I get home, calm down a bit while taking Mesa for walkies, and then go to make my sandwich for tomorrow's lunch. As I'm looking out the kitchen window, a gust of wind blows up. Then it gets stronger. And stronger. Soon all of my plants are flying across the patio. Tumbleweeds come sailing into the yard. I hear a loud *BANG* to the side of the house. A 3'x 6' hunk of sheet metal comes flying in from my neighbor's yard. And then it's over. I go outside to see plants scattered everywhere. The other new pot I had bought last week was smashed. The patio was covered in potting soil. As I carried the hunk of metal back over to the neighbor's, I noticed that the wind had slammed my side gate open with such ferocity that it ripped it from its hinges. I figured that the yard had taken a direct hit from a dust devil. Think of it as a little tornado that forms bottom up as opposed to true tornadoes that form top down. It looks like I'll be taking another trip to Lowes to get more pots.
