Hmmm. I just read a couple of LJ's today where folks are all fed up with the furry fandom. It makes me sad to read such things. As I wrote about yesterday, I really and truly love the fandom and want to see it as a happy and welcoming place. I guess I must choose my friends carefully of something because I have not run across any really bad people in the 2 years I have been active in the fandom. I am sad to hear that some people are assholes and don't treat others with respect. As I wrote yesterday, I love the diversity of the group, and most people I have run across have been very tolerant of others' viewpoints and opinions. I have friends that have strict morals as well as those into wild kinky sex. I know staunch conservative Republicans and ultra-left Democrats. It's all good. I guess I just get sick of the smoldering remains of the Burned Fur that say the fandom is going to hell in a handbasket. The fandom will change and evolve over time. It can either continue to mutate and grow as times change, grow exponentially and explode like a supernova, leaving a core of devoted fans, or it can slowly shrink and die. I personally think there is a lot of life in the fandom. Afterall, anthropomorphism has been around for more than 20,000 years.
