Well, as feared my garden has met only partial success. You see, I planted a lot of stuff toward the back of my yard. That's the portion that's right up against the fence that separates my yard from the wilds of the mesa. It's a double-edged sword. I love having the wildness right in back of my fence. At the same time, that means I have to live with all of the wildness that enters my yard, namely rodents and quail. I have probably lost over half my seeds/seedlings. There are nice little holes evenly spaced right where I had planted seeds. Like I wrote earlier, in my first year 6 years ago I planted about 2 dozen seedlings. They were all eaten within 2 days.
I can't get mad. I love my critters. I have a bird feeder in my yard and love to watch them (except pigeons which I shoot, kill, and feed to raptors). So I will go out today and replant as much as possible. I will cover each row with a protective layer of chicken wire. I think they will leave the plants alone once they have reached a certain height. I have 3 pepper plants back there which haven't been disturbed.
*LOL* I just watched Anubis sniffing around a bush. Suddenly Skookum's paw shot out and swiped him in the nose. PWN3D!
