San Marcial

We use many tools in keeping track of what's happening on the Rio Grande. One of our engineers had an idea of setting up a portable webcam in a very remote area and using a satellite feed to get the pictures to the web. It has proved to be a pretty invaluable tool for us. This morning I wanted to check it to see if our recent flood pulses have reached that far south. It was still too early in the morning to get a good picture of the river, but it did reward me with a truly lovely picture.

This is the San Marcial railroad bridge about 100 miles south of ABQ. It is used by the BNSF between ABQ and El Paso. I took tenax down here earlier in the year as floodwaters lapped at the bottom of the bridge. The recent rain and the cooler temperatures have helped to make this foggy scene.
