Kitty, jeil_kitty and I got to the park about an hour before sunset. I quickly suited up and hit the crowds. Since Balloon Fiesta is known as "the most photographed event in the World," I was quickly pounced by families wanting pics with their kids. I was happily surprised to have also been pounced by so many teenagers, middle-aged people, and senior citizens all wanting pics. A few even remembered me from last year. There was a rock band playing on the stage in back of me so I turned into a dancing bear. Kitty told me the band loved it that I was getting into their music as well as attracting a crowd to the stage area. As the balloons started inflating I quickly desuited and enjoyed the spectacle for myself. It started getting a bit windy and the balloons were swaying precariously low to the ground. Many deflated early to avoid damage. One balloon was a giant dog. I quickly ran underneath it as it was deflating and Kitty grabbed a great shot of me just about to get squished by a giant paw. Yeah, it was a macrophile's wet dream. *lol* I'm sure torrle will enjoy it as much as I enjoy his paw-squish icons.
We made it back to the parking lot just as the fireworks show started. We all just sat in the back of the Bearmobile and enjoyed the show. After it was over we headed over to Hometown Buffet for dinner. Just as they closed skitzycat and shimmerfox showed up and we yerfed for awhile. The manager was very cool for letting them in after closing, even saying it was cool if they wanted a drink.
This is what the balloon glow is all about. It's terribly hard to get a good pic due to the low light and the vastness of the event.
Hi there, big bear!
Bringing smiles to young and old alike
Attack of the kiddies!
Arrrrgh! They want the bear's booty!
