On Saturday we lazed around most of the day but then headed over to echoweaver's place for a potluck dinner. They had a great idea; a chocolate tasting! They put out about 10 types of chocolate ranging from 10-20% cocoa all the way up to 75%.
Sunday, Kitty and I headed up to Santa Fe to go to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. I have lived here almost 7 years and have never been. I now see that I didn't really miss much. I love her work, but I saw better examples of her art while visiting The Met in New York. The featured exhibit was supposed to compare her flower drawings to those of Andy Warhol. Meh. The exhibit was way too small and not worth the price of admission. Walking down the street we came to the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art. That had a nice collection (and it was free!). We saw works by Norman Rockwell, Salvador Dali, Grandma Moses, Winslow Homer, and Grant Wood. Not bad for a relatively small museum. We had also stopped at one of the galleries that are found all over Santa Fe. Oh, I wish I had a shitload of money! There were some gorgeous bronze bear sculptures. Unfortunately I don't have $10,000 to drop on art like that. So all in all it was a nice weekend to enjoy life.
I titled this post "Enjoying Life" because I have been seeing a disturbing trend on LJ. People are making more and more posts about their exploits on Second Life. Some are even going to the extreme of creating LJ's for their characters where they describe their "life" in SL. I have read posts where someone describes all of the fun things that they did and only after I got to the bottom did I realize that the entire thing happened on the Internet. Would you all please get a first life before starting a second life! It's not real! It's a fucking game! You are not getting intimate with people! You are not building anything! It's cyberspace masturbation! Shut off your computer and go experience REAL LIFE! You'll find it much more rewarding.
