Happy LJ Day!

Today marks the beginning of my 5th year on LJ. *throws confetti* I never thought I would stick with it this long. I'm happy to have a place to put down my thoughts and observations. I'm also happy to have a vehicle from which I have made many friends. I hope to make more in my 5th year! I went back and read several months worth of posts from my early days. *facepaws* I was certainly an emo bear. In re-reading my old posts it helped me, however, identify with many folks in LJ land. Many are either just getting started in the fandom and are bouncing around like a kit/cub on sugar. Yup. Been there. Done that. Many are pining for a mate. Yup. I pondered what I was doing wrong in that I hadn't found Mr./Miss Right. For a long time my only contact with folks was IM. I can feel a little sympathy for those on Second Life if that is their only contact with friends. It's still no excuse for not making every effort to make some real contact with friends.

In other news I took another naturalist walk on the mesa the other day. I found a few new species of flowers which was good news. The bad news is that there is now a paved road on the mesa. *facepaws* The development that has been going in has paved the road from the main road to their sales office. The number of houses under construction has gone up from 1 to 4. There are curbs and fire hydrants going in. The houses that are being built are really fugly! There is almost no back yard and the houses are right next to one another. My favorite new saying is that the houses are so close together that you can not only hear your neighbor fart, but you can smell it too! I'll post pics tomorrow to my alternate LJ abq_west_mesa. During my walk I saw several cars driving down the new road checking things out. It looks like I may have to become Abbey and do a better job taking out the road in back of my den. I have a feeling traffic may increase significantly now that access has improved.
