A few weeks ago I read stevefoxx's LJ about a new product from Anheuser-Busch which combined Budweiser with Clamato. My first thought was "WTF?!?" but then I remember that I used to make "red beer" by combining cheap beer with a splash of V8. Overall it wasn't that bad. But beer and clam juice?!? I know they're targeting the growing Hispanic market and as a shareholder in AB, I'm all for increasing market share.

So yesterday Kitty and I were at our favorite liquor store, and there it was! Being the adventurous bear that I am, I bought a can. I brought it home, popped it open, and poured myself a glass. Now the color is a bit disturbing. It's not really a red, more of a kind of pinkish orange. I took my first sip. Hmmmmm. Interesting. Not as bad as I would have thought. And then the aftertaste hit. It was like getting a mouthful of sea water. The salty aftertaste was really overpowering. I managed to drink the entire can because I can't stand to waste alcohol, but it was pretty nasty. I used to think that Mexicans had pretty good taste in food, but if they like to drink this shit, I may have to reconsider my opinion. Perhaps they eat a bunch of tasty, spicy food first and by the time they're done, their tastebuds are numb enough to drink this stuff. It would actually be fun to get a 6-pack or 2 of this stuff and serve it at a con room party. Sort of a Funday Pawpet Show Spit or Swallow Challenge. It would be similar to the bum wine tasting we did at AC '04.

Oh, and how many of you are aware of the Furry Broadcasting Corporation? The New Mexico furs were contacted by a reporter from the alternative paper from Santa Fe. They wanted to do a story on furry and I was happy to oblige. One of the focal points was about the FBC and do we listen to it. Supposedly it's based out of Los Alamos. How about that! Another fur in NM who didn't know there was a fairly active community just a couple of hours south. So does anyone out there know of/listen to the Furry Broadcasting Corporation?
