Ups and Downs

I have to remember that there has to be balance in the force. One cannot be too up or too down for too long. Things had been cruising along for me when I fell into a puddle of suck. The night before last Mesa decides to get restless at 2 a.m. I kick him outside thinking he has to go. I then return to bed and lay there for 2.5 hours. I finally get back to sleep just in time for the alarm to go off.

I then called the zoo to find out about Zoo Boo in a few weeks. This is by far my favorite gig. Lots of cute kids in animal costumes and lots of parents with cameras. This year they decide that since we're not really volunteering to help out, no free passes for us and we have stand in a huge line to get in. Bleh.

Then I developed a nice boil on my leg. I have had pimples in my life but never something so big and ugly before. I didn't want to end up with some sort of infection, so off to the doctor's office.

Yeah. Things just felt like shit yesterday. Even a nice turkey dinner cooked up by Kitty didn't really help.

But then things got better. I had a wonderful restful night of sleep. The Zoo called and said we could still use the backstage area to change. And the doctor said the boil was not that bad and didn't have to be lanced. He just gave me some anti-biotics and a way to get it to drain on its own. So far so good. He said it could have been caused by a spider bite. Of course that got Kitty all paranoid that we're sharing the bed with an eight-legged visitor (and we're not talking Mesa and Skookum together on the bed.)

And now the work day is over. Time to go home and lay my body down. And when the morning light comes streaming in, I'll get up and do it again. Amen.
