I found out that "Supersize Me" had a lot of truth behind it. I got the results of some bloodwork that was done the other day. My cholesterol had shot up 60 points in the past 6 months! I went from a nice healthy 170 to over 230. Pretty impressive! I chalk it up to the holidays combined with FC and a week in the Bay Area for Kitty's mom's funeral. During that time I ate a lot of sausage and eggs for breakfast, fast food for lunch, and assorted restaurant food for dinner. If you haven't guessed I have started to really watch what I eat. Can't wait to get back on the bike to ride to work.Today's XKCD
is sooooo true! I have been out of college for about 20 years and, yes, I STILL have this f*cking dream!
I have still been on my quest to watch movies that have been nominated for Academy Awards. First there was "The Lives of Others" which won Best Foreign Film last year. It was a good flick about East Germany in the early 80's and how the government spied on pretty much everyone. It's unbelievable how much time and effort were spent keeping an eye on every little detail of the lives of citizens. Talk about living in constant fear!
The other movie was "Little Children" which was up last year for Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was drama drama drama about people having an affair. There was a subplot which involved a child predator played by Jackie Earl Haley. He did an excellent job playing the creepy pedophile. It was no wonder he was nominated. What I didn't realize was that he just finished another memorable role. He was Rorschach in The Watchmen! Watch out for this guy! He's a great actor.
To those heading out to FWA, have a great time! Maybe I'll join you next year.
