Greetings From RCFM

We bid farewell to New Orleans this morning. I had always wanted to drive the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, so we exited the city to the north. I must say that driving over a 20-mile long bridge is quite the experience! We then headed north to Jackson, MS where we picked up the Natchez Trace Parkway. I think someone on my F.L. drove this route over the past few years and had commented that it was a very nice drive. I can certainly concur! It was so nice to just park the cruise control at 50 and not have to worry about trucks or significant cross traffic. I opened up the moon roof, turned on some nice mellow jazz, and had one of the most relaxing drives I have ever taken. The only time things got a little hairy was when a thunderstorm rolled in and visibility dropped to near zero. I was able to pull into an interpretive area where we rode out the storm. Doing a nice steady 50 also helped tremendously with my fuel economy. I was easily averaging 25 MPG in my big SUV.

We eventually arrived in Huntsville and checked into the con hotel. We met up with a few familiar faces and the alcohol began to flow. We attended a nice room party, and now it's time to hibernate. If anyone os coming to the con, we're in room 306. Good night, y'all!
