Balloon Fiesta: Close to Home

When I first moved to ABQ, I thought, "Cool! I'll be able to watch the Balloon Fiesta from the top of the mesa!" Well, I quickly learned that even though the park is only 6.5 miles as the crow flies, you really don't see all that much. Add that to the fact that you're facing east into the rising sun, and all of those nice colorful balloons quickly become gray. Nothing compares to being right there in the park or just outside of it if you know which direction the wind is blowing.

On Sunday morning I wandered out into the yard and saw that the balloons were drifting to the south. They were high enough that I got a nice pic. So here you have a pic of Balloon Fiesta from the backyard of Fur Central (shot with a telephoto lens, but not at max zoom).
