Happy Irrigation Day!

Here we are! March 1! Time for the start of yet another irrigation season on the Rio Grande. Temps are still getting below freezing in the evenings, so not much will be growing, but it will just be a matter of time before the trees are budding and the crops will be emerging. For me it will mean constant monitoring of the river to make sure we don't dry too much of it up too quickly. The snowpack ranges from "meh" in the north to "fugly" in the south. Hopefully there will be enough water in the river to keep flowing until at least the middle of June. Elephant Butte Reservoir will be extremely low by the end of the year. Sorry, scritchwuff! The forecast is for warm and dry weather for the next few months. I don't think I have to worry about causing any floods this year.
