skookum

Goodbye, Skooks

It has now been over a week since I last saw Skookum. I have no given up most hope that I will ever see her again. I have played over scenarios in my head for days now, and the only thing that makes any sense is that she climbed into someplace and got locked in. She was never a talkative kitty unless her bowl was empty, but even then she had a very quiet mew. She probably hunkered down somewhere and was perhaps too scared to come out. *shrugs* I just don't know. I really doubt that someone picked her up because she always runs away from people especially when outside and ESPECIALLY at night. She followed us on a walk a couple of weeks ago and every time we stopped to pick her up, she played the "Ha ha! You can't catch me!" game. No one in the neighborhood has seen or heard coyotes in months. While the weather has warmed up some, it has probably been too cold for rattlesnakes (which I haven't seen in years!) I guess the one good thing that has come from this is that we have gotten to meet all of the nearby neighbors.

We may foster silveronewunny's cat if she has to move. We'll definitely be getting another cat in the near future, possibly as many as 3. I just want to name them Fling, Boot, and Yoink. We were always doing those things to Skooks (very lovingly I should add) over the years and had said that those would be good cat names.

Thank you for 11 years of love. You will be greatly missed.
