I have been watching the weather forecast with great interest over the past few days. All signs were pointing to a major Winter weather event heading for NM for today and tomorrow. Last night the Weather Service actually posted one of the most strongly-worded statements I have heard from them calling this a "potentially life-threatening storm." I awoke this morning to find the ground nice and white. The local school district was on a 2-hour delay which meant that I could also report to work 2 hours late. We used to follow the local Air Force bases' lead, but those damn military types don't let a little weather get in their way. I think some of the parents at work also complained because if the school canceled but work didn't, they would have to find a sitter or take the day off. A couple of times in the past I would pretty much ignore the delay and report to work on time only to find that they closed for the day. Today I just took my time. It didn't look all that bad in some places but roads were closed all over the place due to ice and accidents. Finally the word came out that school was canceled. Whoot! No work for me either! I immediately hopped back into the nice warm bed and did something I haven't done in YEARS. I slept until noon. Damn! Did that feel good! Now that the snow is pretty much finished we're in for temps in the single digits. Time to put on a fursuit!
