Another Mesa Update
The road to the west of Fur Central was finally paved yesterday. All that remains is to put in the sidewalk and put up the street signs. The last big task will be to lay the bike/ped trail that will run along the edge of the mesa. Once that is in I will have to put it to the test and walk to the volcanoes about 5 miles to the west. I only did that once about 10 years ago when there were no roads at all up there. It will be interesting to see if they put a park in a retention basin at the west end of the development. They put in stairs and a ramp leading down into it. I certainly hope they do it. It's part of the City's multiple use concept to flood control. Since the basins are dry 99% of the time, why not put them to some other use. One of the largest and most popular parks about a mile away has its primary function as a retention basin. Of course that precludes building any sort of permanent structure in it, which means no rest rooms except for porta potties.
