Back to the Grind
Kitty and I made it home just fine yesterday. The Southwest Chief was on time. We had a nice relaxing trip from Fullerton. The end of Califur was a bit of a letdown as it just got downright boring. I tried to attend a panel on scientists in the fandom, but it got depressing since almost everyone in the room was either unemployed or not a scientist at all. After being away from home for more than a week, we just wanted to get the heck out of there and leave the con behind.
Fortunately some potential home drama was eliminated very quickly. Our housesitter had informed me that the air conditioner had stopped working. This would have been a problem especially with temps forecast to be around 100 all week. All that had happened, however, was that my bathroom contractor had needed an outlet in the garage and had unplugged the small pump that got rid of condensation. Water had built up in the system which triggered a safety switch. I plugged the pump in and the air conditioned sprung to life. Whoot! Blissful coolness! So now it's back to life as usual. There are lots of chores to get done. Outside of AlbuFURque which is scheduled for June 21, there is nothing big on the horizon until Al and Dex's wedding in August. It's time to just chill out, read some books, do some yard work, and start binge watching season 2 of "Orange is the New Black."
