Garden Update

This is probably the latest I have ever planted a garden. Normally everything is in the ground by the first week of May. This year, due to all of my traveling, I was not able to get to the garden until this weekend. That's not necessarily a bad thing. In previous years if I planted early the garden was the only source of greenery which made it a target for herbivores. I also noted that a lot of plants (like cucumbers) really didn't like the cool morning temps. When I planted those later in the year, they tended to grow much faster. We shall see. I decided to keep things simple this year. I only planted 5 tomatoes, 4 mounds of cukes, and 2 rows of green beans. Since I waited so long this year I had my work cut out for me in clearing out the weeds that sprung up early this year. Yikes! There were sure a lot of them! I just hope the veggies grow as well!
