Back to the Future
Last night I was channel surfing and came across the movie in the subject line. I realized that the movie itself has become a perfect time capsule of 1985. The hair, the music, the mannerisms, etc. I wonder if Bob Zemeckis realized what he was making at the time. Perhaps he wanted to fill up the movie with so many "80-isms" to contrast with the Fifties. I then realized that next year marks the 30-year anniversary of the film. So if the movie was re-made next year, Marty would be going back to 1985. So I started to think about the differences between 2015 and 1985 and how they would compare with the differences between 1985 and 1955. I guess it's also kinda "Austin Powers-y" when he wakes up in the future. So what would the main differences be to be parodied? The rise of the Internet? The end of the Cold War? Vinyl records and VHS tapes? Brick cell phones? Gay marriage? A black president? Airport screening?
