Park Fun

Awhile back in one of my "Mesa Update" posts I wrote that they had installed metal animal silhouettes in the newly-constructed park that also functions as a storm water retention basin. The other day they installed 3 informative signs at the park entrance. 2 detailed all of the trees and plants that had been planted. The third discussed the animal sculptures. It seems as though they're something of a scavenger hunt for the kids. The coyotes, bunnies, and cranes are easy to find, but I was surprised to see there were also supposed to be lizards, crickets, spiders, etc. I decided to go on the scavenger hunt! I had a fun time exploring the park trying to find the small sculptures. I eventually found examples of most of them, but I didn't find all of critters that were supposed to be there. Here is the sign describing all of the metal critters that are supposed to be there (as well as "fossils" and tracks imprinted into the concrete)

I think the concept is a really neat idea. I hope it lasts for years to come and is not vandalized by idiots. I may have to alter my daily walkies to head into the park on a daily basis to find the missing critters.
