I thought I would use the long weekend just past to do a little de-cluttering. The main goal was to find a box of old 8mm films that my Dad shot in the 50's and 60's. I had been wanting to get them transferred to some other media for years now. I'm glad I waited because I can now go right to digital as opposed to having put them on VHS years ago. I found them and took them to Costco yesterday to have them digitized. Yeah, it will be a little pricey (47 films!) but it will be worth it to share old memories with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I'm looking forward to seeing myself at about 5 years old watching the San Francisco Zephyr blow through the Harlem Av Station on the Chicago "Racetrack."

Since I had to go through several boxes to find them, I decided to get rid of a lot of ephemera. I am a packrat when it comes to old bills. I had a few boxes full of old phone, water, electric, cable, etc statements from the late 90's to the 2000's. Shred time! I also found a bunch of notes and syllabi from college. Recycle! What was fun, however, was going through my old college notes to see all of the doodles I did in the margins. You could tell how interesting or boring a class was based on the number of doodles. The other thing that made me smile was seeing how furry I was back in the mid 80's. OMG! I had it bad! *lol* Here is an example of my mad art skillz back then. Before Sabot there was Abbey, my anarchist raccoon character.
