The Other Side of Paris
After starting our visit here on a very negative note, things rapidly improved. Scritch played international phone tag trying to get all of his credit cards cancelled. Once he was finished, he was mentally wiped out. We decided to head out to dinner. Fortunately there are restaurants all over the area. We ended up at a French version of Olive Garden which fortunately had some very tasty food. After we got some wine into the wuff, he was feeling better. The drama then shifted to me as I tried to get cash from ATM's. Every time I tried to get cash, the transaction was rejected. Would I ever find cash? We decided to put worries on the back burner and go see Notre Dame at night. It was beautiful! So things were looking up!
This morning I found that my bank has international partners with a French bank. There was a branch a block away! I could get cash! YAY! We had breakfast at a local bistro and then went to do laundry. WHAT?!? *lol* Scritch brought clothes for only a week. He needed fresh clothes. There was a laundromat right around the corner from our hotel, so we all did laundry. It was then time for tourist stuff. We walked along the Seine from Notre Dame all the way to the Eiffel Tower. The only downer was lunch which was ridiculously expensive and not all that great. It put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day. We did hop on a Seine River cruise which we enjoyed for a few hours. On the way back to the hotel we decided on a cheaper dinner. We found a boulangerie where we picked up a few quiches and some pastries. We then walked across the street to a wine store where we picked up a couple bottles of French wine. It was then back to the room where we enjoyed a most wonderful (and cheap!) dinner. So that's it for Day 2. All is well again.
