Home with Mom
I pulled in just before 5 yesterday. Of course the drive was stressful as traffic on I-55 is also known as Tardfest. Combine assholes doing 90 with trucks doing 60 and you get "wolf packs" that look like the Daytona 500. I was also dismayed to come home and find Mom not here. WTF?!? Oh no! What was wrong?!? Nothing. She forgot that she promised to go to a play with her friends at the local community college, so she left me a small note saying that dinner was in the fridge. Oh well. I can't complain. She bought be some Polish beer as well. She came home not long after and we spent the rest of the evening talking about family. No big plans for the week. I do want to czech out (pun intended!) a local library that has an eastern European genealogical section. I also plan on hitting up a couple of cemeteries where some distant relatives are buried. Of course I'll have to go to the Polish supermarket and stock up on sausage to bring back.
I took Mesa on a walkies this morning to the church rectory where Mom was helping out with her friends. They all wanted to meet the dog. Unfortunately the priest didn't like dogs so he kicked us out. Asshole. Oh well. The "hood" still looks the same after 50 years.
