Hot Hot Heat

Looking through my Friends page I see that the weather is a common theme. I never really liked Summer all that much. It's miserable (and dangerous) fursuiting. When you want to cool down, you can only get just so naked. There are bugs all over the place. If I kill one more cricket I shall be put on the crickets' 10 most wanted list. I won't mention the millipedes, centipedes, wasps, ants, moths, etc. Oh wait. I just mentioned them.

Last night I was dripping with sweat after walking Anubis with ari_foxy. I wanted to hunt for computer disks, but I was dripping all over everything. I decided to hop into the shower to cool off. No dice. I experienced what I call the "Yuma Syndrome." When I lived in Yuma I could not take a cold shower in July or August. The city got its water from the Colorado River which gets pretty toasty in Summer. The water is stored in big above-ground metal tanks. I think you see where I'm going with this. The water that came out of the tap was 90-100 degrees even on full cold. Last night was a similar situation here. Full cold was just about luke warm. Bleh. No relief. I just flopped on the bed and prayed for a cool breeze. You see, humidities have been >50% as of late. That means that the swamp cooler is very ineffective. We need nice cooling downpours when the humidity gets up in that range. Unfortunately, that doesn't look very likely for the next few days. Looks like we'll all be in the same sweaty boat for the foreseeable future.
