Don't bother me!

One of my hang-ups (if you can call it that) is that I hate to bother people. I am always concerned that my actions will not adversely effect someone else. An example would be from this past weekend when I yelled at Kitty to get out of a doorway she was standing in and trying to have a conversation with me. She was preventing people from leaving. It's my take on courtesy. At the same time I don't expect my courtesy to one effect another. I will not stop to let you in if I will cause traffic to stack up in back of me. I'm also sorry, but just because you're old or handicapped doesn't give you extra points. I'm a firm believer in "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

I tend to get very pissed at people because the new attitude seems to be "I am the most important person on the planet and I do what I please!" It doesn't matter if your actions cause discomfort or annoyance to others because you are God's gift to humanity and we should submit to your will. One manifestation of this phenomenon is the bringing of children everywhere and anywhere. Some may think children are wonderful and precious. I have no problem with them myself and might have one or two in the future. Kids are one of the reasons I love to fursuit. There is a time and a place for children, however, and parents should get it through their heads that not everyone wants to deal with their little bundles of joy. Whatever happened to getting Susie down the block to babysit while you went out to a dinner or a movie? Why do you feel that you have to lug the rugrats with you wherever you go?

Kitty wrote in her LJ after AC that we were treated to the screaming children choir on 3 of 4 legs of our flights to and from Pittsburgh. Please...STAY HOME! Dope the kids up with brandy or cough medicine, just shut them up! Our dinner last Saturday was almost ruined by 2 women who brought their brats into the very nice Italian restaurant where we were eating. The peaceful and relaxing environment was shattered by screams coming from the corner table. The rugrats were totally out of control and even started running around the tables. Two locals who were regulars on Saturday nights got up and left. The owner told the parents to control their kids which must have been a huge insult to the women because they packed up and left in a huff, complaining about the lousy food and service. Huh? As one woman was leaving I shot her a look that could melt steel. She caught my eye and I could see that my stare hit her like a donkey punch. She quickly left and I heard her comment to her friend that she was getting dirty looks from the patrons. Well duh! The owner of the restaurant apologized to us for the disturbance, and she was glad to see them go.

I know that 2 wrongs don't make a right, but I think we have to start confronting stupidity and rudeness with anger and disdain. Be courteous and understanding to a point, but there is no reason why we should be subjected to the stupidity and selfishness of other people. *polishes clue-by-four*
