The recent rains have not only made my tomato plants grow like crazy but have sparked a wildflower frenzy up on the mesa. I'll have to bring the camera when I go for walkies tonight. I counted at least 6 species of plants that are flowering. I don't think I have ever seen the mesa look so beautiful. Everything is lush and green with patches of orange, yellow, and purple. I guess the plants are making up for lost time since nothing bloomed in Spring. I'll post pics tomorrow.
I have been inspired by echoweaver who frequently posts about crock pot cooking. Kitty and I bought a couple of recipe books and I tried one out the other day. It was an Italian sausage ratatouille that came out very delicious! There was a slight mystery involved, however. The main reason I wanted to make the recipe was that I had a couple of eggplants from the garden that I wanted to use before they went bad. As I was getting all of the ingredients ready, the eggplant disappeared! We searched the kitchen and they were nowhere to be found. Fortunately there were a couple more in the garden ready to be harvested. I'm sure I'll find the shriveled remains of the eggplant one of these days when I'm cleaning the kitchen.
