Mothers are funny things. It seemed that my mom could almost accept that her son was gay, but she was hung up on the fact that her son was a furry. She could not grasp the concept of fursuiting and she was constantly questioning the goings-on of conventions. As time went on, however, she slowly warmed up to the idea that her son liked to dress up like a big furry critter to entertain people. She could finally accept that making people happy made me happy. When she saw the pics of me downtown yesterday she saw all of the people enjoying my presence there. She even fluffed the fur on Abbey's head as it sat in the kitchen and said, "Oh, you're so cute!" She then suggested that I show up at her senior citizens club in suit since her friend was having a birthday celebration that day. Of course I agreed. Kitty and I showed up at 1:00, and mom met us at the door. She brought us into the room and gave an introduction. I went into frantic coon mode and ran around hugging everybody. I wasn't sure how all of the 70-, 80-, and even 90-year old people would react to a fursuiter interrupting their bingo. OMG! They acted like little kids! Once they saw that Kitty was taking pics, everybody wanted one! I went from table to table passing out hugs and posing for pics. People who knew me from when I was a little boy gave me the biggest hugs. The room was wall-to-wall smiles. I really put on a great performance and mom said that there were many compliments after I left. I was only in suit for about 15 minutes, but in that time I spread a lot of happiness. Yup. THAT'S what it's all about.
I'll only post one pic. Here's me and my mom. The auto-focus was acting up, so it came out a bit blurry.
