You don't have to worry about any romance in "There Will Be Blood." There is only one very brief scene that involves a wedding, but after that, the movie is all about unsavory characters. I summed up the movie as a modern day version of "Citizen Kane," or perhaps "Citizen Kane" meets "The Aviator." Daniel Day Lewis is absolutely fantastic as the ruthless oil man who wants to succeed at almost any cost. He is a complete and utter bastard by the end of the movie. I see wingywoof posted a YouTube link to the last scene of the movie. How it got there I have no idea, but it's a great little snipet of his performance. The ending is quite bizarre, but much better than the ending of "No Country For Old Men."
If you go see this movie, have a stop watch handy. I'm curious as to how long it is between the opening title shot and the first bit of spoken dialog. I'm guessing it was 15-20 minutes.
It wasn't a perfect movie, but pretty damn close. Right now it would be my favorite to win Best Picture.
