It looks like reviews are running hot and cold with this one. I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring on the "great flick" side. I normally hate these types of action/adventure/shoot-em-up kind of flicks. This was one where I could legitimately switch off the mind and enjoy it for what it was worth. I was expecting a lot of eye candy since it was directed by the same fellow who brought us "Pan's Labyrinth." I was not disappointed. It was a great movie for just the visuals. I was wondering how much time and effort went into filming the scenes in the Troll Market. The setting was so lush and complex like Diagon Allley in Harry Potter. The movie worked much better as a fantasy story than a sci-fi/comic book drama. I guess long story short is that I felt I got my money's worth out of this one.
