Reunion News

This year marked the 25th anniversary of my graduation from high school. Yeah. I be old and shit. I had kicked around the idea about going to the reunion in September, but the cost didn't justify the benefit. While I had some fun times in high school, it's something that's way in the past for me. I really don't care any more. I probably don't have a lot in common with the folks I graduated with anyway. It's hard to believe that it would be possible to meet up with a friend's kid who himself would be graduating from high school (or even college!) Since I went to a Catholic high school, there would also be that awkward moment when I inform everyone that I am a born again pagan. All of that religious shit that we were taught is now well forgotten. Part of the reunion weekend also entailed going to mass. Yeah! Right! About the only regret I felt was seeing that most of my posse was there. I had been afraid that I would have shown up and only the stuck-up princesses would have also been there.

I was a bit saddened to hear that a classmate had died. He was definitely not a friend, but we only had about 150 people in the graduating class. BTW, he was probably ranked 150 out of 150. I often wondered about him, though. I wanted to give him an award in the senior year for "most likely to end up a mob wiseguy." He was "seriously" Italian. I could easily picture him working the collection racket. He was about 300 lbs in high school. I don't know if he ever lost the weight, but maybe that's what killed him. Or maybe it was an ice pick to the back of the neck in the front seat of a Coupe de Ville?
