Myself, Kitty, xeltifon, and his bf Cliff made the trip. We left around 8:30 and took the southern route in. This is supposed to be the rougher way in. We had freeway and paved highway for all but the last 30 miles. It was bumpy, but not bad for an SUV. We got to the park just before noon. We hit the ruins close to the Visitors' Center, and then had some sammiches at the picnic area. It was then time to hit the major ruin in the park where we explored and FURSUITED! *LOL* Of course a trip to a national park would not be complete with a little fursuiting fun. I think this makes my 8th park. I was joined by Aldo Wolf this time. I really have to salute xeltifon for his enthusiasm in fursuiting. He has taken his $100 Target fursuit all over the state and has had himself photographed with many landmarks. I have created a guerrilla fursuiting monster! *lol* After suiting we hit another major ruin and decided to call it a day. We took the northern route out which was a little better. It was then a 2.5 hour drive back to civilization where we enjoyed dinner at the Range Diner in Bernalillo.
The ruins were incredible! I can see how they could be considered on-par with places like Machu Pichu in Peru or Tikal in Guatemala. It really illustrated how advanced pre-Columbian civilization was in this hemisphere before it was "discovered" in 1492. Due to time constrains we barely scratched the surface of the many sites in the Park, but we plan on heading back, probably in the Fall, to actually camp out and spend a few days there.
And now some pics!

"Hey, Aldo! Wanna see the inside of a kiva up close?"
"Phew! Being a furry tourist can really wear you out!"
