Symphony Under the Stars

I made a comment to Kitty last night while we were sitting in lawn chairs at the Zoo, nibbling on sushi and sipping Chardonnay, "It certainly is a wonderful thing to have a life."

Last night the NM Symphony Orchestra had a concert which featured the work of George Gershwin. The event was held outside in the band shell at the ABQ Zoo. You provided your own seating accommodations as well as your own food. We wanted something elegant so we started with antipasto of feta, olives, mozzarella, mushrooms, and stuffed grape leaves. We then went "East" with sushi rolls. Wine was purchased on-site. Dessert was a chocolate brownie with cream cheese icing. All of this was consumed outside under a threatening sky which refused to rain on us. The music was absolutely wonderful from the "dinner music" played on the piano before the concert which included everything from Billy Joel to Aerosmith, to the concert itself which included "American in Paris" and of course "Rhapsody in Blue" with an INCREDIBLE pianist.

It was certainly a romantic evening, and it didn't cost all that much. Tickets were 2-for-1, so it was only $15 for both of us. The food was about $20 as was the wine. What we ended up with was a night to remember. Get out! Do stuff! Make memories!
