So with all of the Subway ads running during the Olympics touting $5 Footlongs, Kitty and I decided to head over to one of the local restaurants to take advantage of the promotion. The $5 Footlong promotion is not new, but it was limited to a very select group of subs. It seemed that this new promotion was stating that ANY sub was $5. I can't tell you how many times they use the word "any" in the ad, but you can definitely tell that it's the "any" gimmick which is the selling point. So imagine our surprise when we walked into the Subway and found that a roast beef footlong was not $5, but $7! Kitty wanted a chicken teriyaki, but it was listed as $6. WTF? We asked the troll behind the counter about this and was told that those were "specialty" subs and not covered under the promotion. I looked at the list of subs that were $5 and lo and behold, they were the exact same sandwiches that had always been covered under the old promotion. So this whole "any" business is a load of horseshit. Corporate will be getting nice angry emails from us.
