Over the weekend Kitty and I went to see the play "FDR." As you can guess, it was a play about the life of Franklin Roosevelt. I think this was the first time I had ever attended a "one-man show." It was basically one man on stage for 90 minutes doing a monologue. What made this performance special was that the one man was Ed Asner. To us older folks he was Lou Grant. To you younger folks he was the voice of the old man in "Up." I was very impressed that he could perform non stop for 90 minutes even though he is 80 years old.

I wasn't sure how I would like a show like this, but I was engrossed in the story. Well, there certainly was a lot of material to work with from the Depression to WWII. I found it funny that even back then the Republicans were the party of "NO!" as they tried to block New Deal legislation, support Wall Street, and fought to keep us out of the war even after Pearl Harbor.
