Potpourri for $100, Alex

I had a bit of a scare with the garden yesterday. I came home from work and saw that half of the pepper plants were severely wilted. I'm talking "they're dead, Jim" wilted. It was extremely sunny and warm so I decided to do what has worked in the past. I watered the Bejeebus out of them. Last year my jalapenos all died because the soil surface looked nice and moist, but less than an inch down it was bone dry. Perhaps I didn't give them a good enough initial watering. This morning they were all happy and perky. Yay!

I have several accounts for various systems in the office. For one database I was given the username of Hydroman. Somehow the account got corrupted and so they gave me a new username. What did they give me? HydroBear. *smiles*

It looks like I'll be playing Otto the Otter for most of next week. Yay! Paid fursuiting! I'm hoping for a cold front. One of the gigs is in Carlsbad where the high today is supposed to be 100.

We saw a couple more Oscar-nominated movies over the weekend. The first was "An Education" which was just ok. It was a simple plot of a young girl falling in love and having her heart broken. Nothing new there. The other movie was "Precious." Someone on my F.L. described it as a hard movie to watch. Very true. It was extremely depressing but an incredible film. You know why Mo'Nique won best supporting actress after watching this. I hate to keep Avatar bashing, but these two films were a world apart in what makes a Best Film nomination. One was very nice eye candy while the other was driven by plot and acting. Definitely not a date movie.

I made another batch of baked beans from scratch last night. This time I used maple syrup instead of molasses. The result was still just as tasty. I also upped the amount of bacon. You can't go wrong there!

And that's the state of the bear.
