We arrived yesterday and took a drive to the north to explore the valley. We hit up a couple of wineries where I sampled a few varieties. Of course I also had to buy a few bottles. For dinner we hit up a local bistro where we had an incredible dining experience. I had a warm spinach salad with a Gorgonzola and pear pizza and crab stuffed ravioli. It was to die for! We had a nice chardonnay from Frog's Leap Winery, and I knew we had to find the winery to sample more of their wares!
Today we took a nice leisurely drive up the valley to Calistoga. We saw the famous geyser which was spouting off every 5 minutes due to the recent rains. We then drove back to Napa stopping off at a few wineries on the way. Our favorite by far was Frog's Leap. They had a nice wine sampling flight which included cheese, bread, and nuts to cleanse the palette. They also had an incredibly cute dog running around the compound which I got all riled up in play mode. It was just the perfect Napa moment sipping delicious wine with a beautiful view of the valley. They get a big paw up. The other wineries all had their own distinct style. I purchased a few more bottles which will be opened for special occasions. So now it's time to chill out and get a little more sober before dinner. *lol*
