Not much has been going on except for "real life" stuff.
On Sunday I went shopping for a new washing machine since the "old" one's spin cycle finally gave up the ghost after limping along for months. I got one repair quote of $400 and so I told the repairman to suck it. A new low-water use machine was on sale for just over $500, so I decided to just buy a new one instead of screwing around with repairing an 8-year old one. Hooray for Throw Away America! The new one arrived yesterday but I have yet to try it out.
I had a great "bargain moment" when I was at Sears looking for the washer. They had winter coats on sale for 70-80% off. I found a pretty nice looking one that had been reduced from $120 to $25. The sign said that the sale was for 20% off the marked price. That knocked it down to about $20. A nice old lady gave me her coupon for 10% off which then knocked the price down another $2. Hooray for buying a $120 coat for $18!
Monday was supposed to be a holiday for me, but the State decided to schedule the most important meeting of the year on that date. Since they had to work, everyone involved also had to work. *grumble* At least I'll get overtime for the day.
Not much else has been going on. The plan is to see all of the Oscar-nominated short films today. A post will follow about what was seen. Aside from that...back to werk!
