Pot Shots

I was sitting at my desk yesterday morning when I heard an odd noise. I thought something fell over or perhaps something cracked or gave way. Nothing appeared wrong so I just continued working. At around 10 the Sun gets high enough in the sky that I can open my blinds and let in as much natural light as possible. It was then that I noticed the small crack in the window. It had the unmistakable shape of a bb hole. It had penetrated one of the double-paned windows but not the other. I went next door to talk to my co-worker and I immediately saw that he too had a hole in his window. I walked down the hall to check out some of the other offices. At least 3 other windows had been shot. If it had been from a moving car on the busy street out in front, it would have had to have been an automatic weapon. Perhaps it was a semi-automatic with a really good CO2 system in order to pump off as many shots in such a short distance/period of time. The more likely explanation was that someone in the ghetto apartments across the street was having a little plinking fun. That wasn't a very smart move if it was because you are shooting at essentially a federal building. We had Homeland Security out here within an hour as well as the local po-po. I brought my binoculars to work today to keep an eye on the apartments across the street. It makes no sense to keep the blinds closed because the glass is tinted in such a way that it is almost impossible to see inside unless you're right at the window.
