For the past 11 years I have had a garden. I am finally figuring out the local weather. Every year there is a nice warm spell in April which gets everyone's green thumb a-twitching. The trees start leafing out and temps might soar to almost 90. The garden centers get packed with people and vegetable seedlings start flying off the shelves. I have learned that patience is a virtue. I told myself that I would not plant until the 1st or 2nd weekend of May. The nice weather over the past couple of weeks made me chomp at the bit to get started. I resisted. Good move! It snowed yesterday.
I was walking Mesa when I noticed the volcanoes to the west of town start to disappear. Uh-oh! I had seen that happen before. One Summer I watched them disappear behind a curtain of silver. About a minute later I was drenched in a downpour. Yesterday the "curtain" was more white and I was briefly enveloped in a snow squall. Wild whacky weather!
I DID get the garden prepared for planting. I added a couple of bags of topsoil and leveled everything out. Next weekend we'll hit the nursery and pick up some seedlings. Let the planting begin!
