I just submitted an application for a promotion potential here in the office. Yeah, I'm like a dog going back to eat its own poop/vomit. What's a little different this time is that I believe the hiring official will be different than my division chief even though the position is still considered under her. It's sort of a weird situation in that there is a manager below her who is actually the same grade as her. At least he's a straight-up guy who you can trust. He actually encouraged me to put in for the position. I also heard it through the grapevine that he actually likes me a lot since I am very responsive to his requests for data/analysis. Unfortunately he will be retiring in a few months. Hopefully, though, he can hire the people he likes and get everything in place before he leaves. Of course I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. On the one paw it's going in a direction I'm not all that thrilled about, but he also stated that a potential project has career-making potential i.e. is potentially VERY high profile and very visible all the way to DC. I pretty much have the attitude, however, that a co-worker has instilled in me; if they're paying you to come to work, you should make as much money as you can in doing that.
