I was watching t.v. the other day when a commercial popped up with a nice Native American gentleman in a suit telling me about getting a cash loan with no collateral or background check. I did an earperk when he specifically said that it "costs a lot, but it's worth it." What an odd thing to say. I then caught a glimpse of the fine print at the bottom of the screen and my jaw dropped. Did I just see what I thought I saw?!? I re-played the ad (thanks to dvr technology) and saw that, indeed, the interest rate that they were charging was 147%! I quickly went online to see if this was legit, and I was greeted with lots of hits with the word "SCAM!" in them. Actually, it's not really a scam. If you are truly stupid enough or perhaps desperate enough to need money RIGHT NOW! then perhaps this is for you. If the info I saw online was correct, then the "scam" is that some shady ripoff loan company is now using Indian tribes as a front to their business. Since tribal governments are immune from a lot of state laws and other government regulations, they can legally charge loanshark rates. The other kicker to the whole thing is that if you have a dispute with your loan you can always take it to tribal court on the Sioux Reservation. Yeah. Good luck with that, white man. Now aren't you sorry you gave them all of those blankets full of smallpox?
