I have officially declared the 2011 growing season over. I don't think I ever had a garden last until November before. The forecast was for a few major cold fronts to pass over the state in the next couple of days which should drop nighttime temps below freezing. I decided to do a preemptive strike and harvest all that I could. Looks like I have one more pickling chore ahead of me! I harvested a bunch of tiny yellow peppers which were probably not close to being ripe, but they were the size of the ones you get at In-n-Out Burger, so we'll see if they pickle just like those. I was a bit miffed at my green chile plants because they were flowering prolifically! Too little too late, guys! One eggplant also had a few flowers. Where were you in June?!? I'll have to post a tally in the next few days. It'll be a little tough because I harvested a bunch of yellow peppers just before the last freeze warning but never got around to pickling them. They're pretty much done for in the fridge. Oops.
