Wednesday night was full of fail in that we tried to go to one of the favorite local Mexican places. After over an hour wait we were told it could be at least another 30 minutes. F.U.! We went to another place down the street, At least we got many free bowls of chips and salsa before we bailed.
Thursday was an awesome day! It really felt like a family gathering in that everyone chipped in to make it a tasty dinner. While I made stuffing casseroles, Kitty made candied yams and scritchwuff deep fried the turkeys in the back yard. Al and Dex lent a paw whenever needed. deviantvixen made the green bean casserole. Bottles of wine were popped open as were many cans of Pabst. It was such a nice day that we decided to eat outside on the patio. It did my heart good to hear some of the new furs from the area express their gratitude that this was the first Thanksgiving gathering they had attended in years. They felt like it was a big family gathering. SCORE! That's what it's all about!
Friday turned out to be a "lost day." In the early afternoon some more friends showed up and we brought out a bottle of tequila that Al's mom had brought from Mexico. It was so smooth! Before we knew it the bottle was empty. Yeah. One tequila. Two tequila. Three tequila. Floor. I supposedly tried to play Angry Birds while completely smashed. Since I was on the same level the next day, I don't think it was a success. *lol*
Saturday we corrected the Mexican restaurant fail of Wednesday by trying another local place that was featured on "Drive-ins, Diners, and Dives." Holy shit! Why haven't I eaten there before?!? It's a small place downtown that I have walked past several times. It has some of the tastiest (and hottest!) chile I have found in the state! I will definitely be going back more often!
Sunday we said very early "good-byes" to Al and Dex as they headed back west. Kitty had a performance with a choir in the afternoon which ate up most of the day. It was finally time to do a little chillin' that evening.
So all-in-all it was a tremendous weekend full of fun and friends. I should also mention that we started to let the kitties out in the yard for brief periods. Gah! Keeping track of 3 little hyper fuzzballs running around exploring everything (including trees) made for quite the adventure.
