Oscar time again! This was a multiple-nominee for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Art Direction, and Best Original Screenplay. In a lot of ways it's just more Woody Allen pretentiousness, but it works. The overall plot is that a struggling American writer falls in love with Paris and magically gets transported back to the Roaring 20's every evening where he hangs out with the likes of Picasso, Fitzgerald, and Hemingway. He then finds that his love interest feels the 20's are boring and wants to go back to an earlier, more romantic time. The message is that we're always looking back in nostalgia when we don't realize how good our time is. Someone will eventually say that the 2010's were awesome. I'm not a big fan of Owen Wilson, but I seem to like the movies he's in. Overall it was a good movie, not great. I told Kitty that it kind of reminded me of "Purple Rose of Cairo" which came out in the 80's. I liked it but she hated it. *shrugs* I guess that's the reaction of a lot of people to Allen's movies.
