A few days ago Kitty was playing around on YouTube with her smartphone playing Barenaked Ladies videos. She found a concert version of "If I Had $1,000,000" where they went off into one of their famous improvisations. They eventually started playing "Magic." You remember. "Whoa ho ho it's magic. You know. Never believe it's not so!" Maybe you youngins have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. *shrugs* It was one of those pop songs from the 70's that I listened to on my transistor AM radio.
Kitty and I both started singing along and then I stopped. Wait a minute. Who originally sang that? We both realized we had no idea who it was. To the Internet! Pilot?!? Wow! One-hit wonder city! They later went on to do a lot of work with the Alan Parsons Project.
I tend to be a music snob, but I realize that there are times in your formative years where bubblegum pop has a place. Then you get older and you start getting nostalgic for it. What a strange mix tape is the soundtrack of our lives.
