The Three Stooges

Back when I was in grade school there was almost a cult following of The Three Stooges in Chicago. I drove my teachers nuts acting out all of the episodes. There was even an animated version of the stooges. Imagine my surprise when I saw that they were going to make an updated version of Moe, Larry, and Curly. I cringed. Then I saw that Will Sasso was going to play Curly. I always found him funny on "Mad TV." Could they actually pull this off. I saw one review that said it was actually pretty good for what it was. Into the Netflix queue it went.

Last night we watched it. I must honestly say that I really enjoyed it. It was just good, mind-numbing comedy with a lot of laughs. It reminded me of "The Brady Bunch Movie" where they bring the characters into the present without changing the original flavor. Even though I have never seen a single episode of "Jersey Shore" I cracked up as they put Moe into the show and he physically abuses all of the beautiful boys and girls with slaps and eye pokes. I was also correct in assuming Sasso would do a great job as Curly. He must have spent a long time getting all of his subtle gestures just right. It was a bit strange that the movie got a PG rating with all of the violence even if it was mostly cartoony violence. It made my inner 10-year old boy very happy.
