"In God We Trust...All Others Pay Cash"

I just finished reading the book in the subject line. If you're not familiar with the title, I'm almost certain that you have heard of the screen adaptation of it..."A Christmas Story." It was interesting to read the source material from which the movie came. The author, Jean Shepherd, also wrote the screenplay, voice acted as the narrator, and also played a bit part in the movie as the guy who scolds Ralphie for cutting in line to see Santa. Most of the material for the movie comes from just a few chapters. Pretty much everything involving the BB gun and Christmas is contained in one chapter. I'm most grateful (and I'm sure the producer and director are as well) for changing Ralphie's gift from Aunt Clara from pink bunny slippers to a pink bunny suit. That scene forever corrupted me as most of you should know by now. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing a pink bunny sleeper as I type this. *lol*

I was a bit disappointed that there was nothing in the book about the flagpole incident nor anything about "Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge!" but I'm glad that those changes were made for the screenplay. There's just something about that movie that resonates with me. I could watch it over and over again, but it has become a Christmas morning tradition to watch it on Christmas morning wearing some sort of pink bunny apparel. I have also seen that there is a sequel to the movie. I'm loath to watch it, but they may have hooked me with a picture on the dvd cover of someone in a reindeer suit. I'll type a review once I get it from Netflix.
